ABOUT
Isidor ten Hooven is a Dutch pianist, bassist and composer of new music, creating eclectic and interdisciplinary works. Now based in London, he works on a range of music theatre, multi-media productions and chamber music, in which he draws from contrasting worlds and traditions, bringing them together to create innovative ideas. With a passion for heavy grooves, punky energy, folk melodies and romantic depth, his music is provocative, real and reflective, with just a dash of crazy.

Before completing his Master’s at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Isidor finished his undergrad at a young, innovative department at the Conservatoire of Utrecht, focussed on conceptual and contextual writing. During this time he became emerged in the experimental scene of Utrecht and as a result, his compositional practices are very much intertwined with his practical experience as a performing musician within these scenes, and as a collaborator with other art forms. By playing around with concepts from the world of dance, theatre and performance art, in combination with structures of different musical styles, free improvisation and a mix of electric and acoustic instruments, he has a versatile approach to music and art as a whole and creates a distinctive sound in his pieces.
